Dan Nickerson's bootcamp for newbies is a super value. Heck, I'm not even a newbie, but I signed up based on Dan's reputation and I have to tell you, he reviewed two of my sites and pointed out things I could do to improve them that made real differences for me. I'd have paid $500 for his notes.

Day 2 – Cpanel & WordPress Setup

Click to Play

In our 2nd Video we’re going to cover Cpanel and WordPress Installation.  Cpanel is the “control panel” used by the most popular webhosts.  It comes installed on many domain packages and your webhost will send you a link to Cpanel in your welcome email.   It may be labeled “Your Control Panel” by hostgator.

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

Cpanel has a lot of great tools to help you setup your domain correctly and WordPress takes just minutes to setup.

    Dan,

I think the money I spent on your boot camp will be worth the small price. I have had a website (www.thisoldcampsite.com) for over two years. It is an information site as I don’t sell anything directly. I hoped to monitize the site using adsence from google and affiliate advertising but haven’t had much luck since I don’t get a large number of visitors. It took me awhile to realize that you can’t make money if you don’t have a large number of visitors per day.

In day one and day two, I’ve already learned a few things I didn’t know.

I don’t get if wordpress is just for a Blog or a Website too?

    • Dan Nickerson says:

WordPress started off as blogging software but over the years, website developers have learned it’s the easiest way to make a website. So wordpress is not only the most popular blogging platform, but the most popular website building platform.

    Dan,

I thought I already knew how to set up WordPress and almost skipped this. That would have been a Big Mistake, as this was great info!

Now I can’t wait to dive into the next lesson…

    Hi Nick and Joel,
I have been listening to your videos on socrates site. I am a complete newbie. I was blown away by your teaching on Cpanel & wordpress setup, wordpress plug in & SEO and Niches, etc. Your videos made it easy for me to understand.
I am keen to know if you do organise Live internet training for Newbies. If you do I would be glad to attend and learn from you. You are a fantastic trainer. You make difficult things easy to understand.
Please let me know and how long is the training and how much it costs.

Please never take more than 15 minutes on a problem like that.. it’s just not worth the time. Just use Google and type in… wordpress page order.

You’ll immediately see a wordpress plugin that will solve the problem.

There’s also a sort drop down menu in the Pages widget where you can sort by name, order, or ID. You can also use a “Menu” to create a custom sidebar pages widget menu in any order you please.

    hi Dan,
i hope i can explain this so that you can understand my query.
on my w/press blog i would like the categories to
    appear like this

    ACNE
    BURNS
    BLISTERS
    etc

the problem is that i can only get the word ACNE to appear under categories and when i post a article about burns and blister it appears under ACNE.

i would like my readers to see the different categories and go to the category that they are looking for.
    how do i do this/

    many tks
    tony

    • Dan Nickerson says:

Goto your dashboard and click on Posts in sidebar. This will pull up all your posts and show their category. If the category for an article doesn’t match what you want, then click “quick edit” below post title to change the category.
